Multiday bicycle / mountainbike tours

Takengon - Meulaboh bicycle tour : Peaks, jungle and ... elephants.

.

This is a fantastic bicycle ride in Aceh. The downhill is really spectacular and the presence of nearby elephants make this ride really exciting. You are surrounded by the biggest forest of Sumatra, with beautiful peaks and views. The ride can be made in two days. The first day we depart early from Takengon. The night can be spent in small wooden houses near a clean river. You can wash in the river which is chrystal clean. The road is in good condition, only the last part to the peak Singgah Mata (1970m.) is not asphalted yet. This part goes through protected forest. We can organize transport to takengon and from Meulaboh and a following vehicule that can carry equipment. Make sure you are in good physical condition. Sabang Exploration

Pulau Weh (or Sabang) is one of the greatest spots for diving in the world ( Guardian). We think it is also one of the greatest cycling islands in the world. The views over the seas and the hills are spectacular. The roads are almost empty. The people are friendly and relaxed. The hills are very steep but not so high, so you need to have some condition. Our main route (30 km, very hilly) leads you over the island to a very nice resort like hotel with private bungalows. From there you can explore the coral by snorkeling or diving. But you can also continue doing the other tracks on Sabang, for example the tough but very beautiful ride across the rainforest along the West Coast. Depending on your wishes you can cycle back to the boat or we can arrange a pick up. For information on diving , for information about Pulau weh . Click here to view the tracks in Google Earth.
